A Creative Welcome: New Road Artwork at Élan

24 September 2025

Aerial view of a divided road with bold diagonal and geometric striped patterns on each lane, a lone white car parked on the right, and two traffic cones and a pink bike on the median. Surrounding area is bare dirt.

Future residents and visitors to Élan will now be greeted by a striking new artwork as they arrive at the community. The installation forms part of the arrival sequence along the main entry road, creating a distinctive sense of place as you approach the masterplanned community.

The design is an abstract interpretation of the Grass Tree (Xanthorrhoea johnsonii), a native species found throughout the local area and present on site. Developed by CUSP landscape architects, the pattern draws inspiration from the natural environment, while the sandstone tones reflect the materials that will feature prominently across Élan’s parklands.

A large geometric mural with black and white diagonal stripes is being installed on the ground. Construction workers and vehicles are visible nearby at the worksite.

Installation was expertly delivered by Brick N Pave using StreetBond, a specialist process where a coloured, textured coating is permanently applied to the road surface. This innovative method ensures durability while allowing for vibrant, detailed designs.

The artwork will receive a final touch-up once the majority of homes in the community are complete, ensuring it remains a fresh and welcoming feature for years to come.

A wide pedestrian crossing with bold black and white diagonal stripes is being constructed on a road. Construction materials and equipment are visible nearby, and the surrounding area is under development.

Élan’s arrival artwork is more than just decoration—it is a symbol of connection to the local landscape and a creative marker of the community’s unique character.
