Élan’s Latest Wildlife Survey

At Élan, caring for the natural environment is an important part of creating a connected community.

Our latest wildlife survey has provided encouraging insight into the koalas and other native animals living in the area.

In July 2026, ecologists used a thermal drone to survey 18.5 hectares of koala habitat around Élan. Five koalas were spotted during the survey, including a female with a dependent joey riding on her back.

The koalas were found in the forested areas around Élan and their presence highlights the importance of these areas as habitat and as a potential pathway for wildlife moving through the local environment.

The survey also recorded brushtail possums, grey-headed and black flying foxes, macropods and several bird species, including a white-bellied sea eagle. These sightings show that the surrounding forest provides a home for a wide variety of native wildlife.

We’ll continue with regular drone and on-ground monitoring to learn more about the animals that call this area home and to support the protection of Élan’s natural environment as the community grows.
